This comes after many months of planning, training, and determination from our members. Over the past couple months, several members have been attending training classes, such as WRER, EBOR, and other related courses. In addition to these courses, members also have had to go through extensive in house training to achieve being qualified to ride and operated the boat.
Boat 41 is a 2018 Inmar inflatable rescue boat, powered by a 40hp Evinrude prop motor. This boat will be used for several applications including urban flooding, river rescues, lake/pond rescues, and anywhere that a motorized boat is needed. In addition, the department also will be operating with a 2022 NRS ASR 155 Rescue Boat (non motorized). This boat will be used when the type of incident does not warrant a motorized boat.
Thank you to all the members that have had a part in the boat process. From purchasing the boat, to the boat going in service, lots of members have come together to make this happen.
The department would also like to thank the following businesses for their donations to the boat fund and their continued support of the department: -Wrightsville Social Club -Columbia Fraternal Association -Long Level Marina -Hellam VFW -Cumberland Marine Repair, LLC. -WhiteCap Water Rescue Training, LLC
