**Announcement from the Fire Chief**

I am pleased to announce that earlier this week the Wrightsville Steam Fire Engine and Hose Co #1 received official word from the FEMA, Department of Homeland Security.

They advised the Officers and Members of the department our 2018 (AFG) Assistance to Firefighters Grant application for equipment was approved!

Wrightsville Steam Fire Engine and Hose was awarded $65,793.33. The department will be required to match 5% of the total grant. The funds will go towards new turn out gear and a specialized gear washing machine.

Congratulations to our members on a well deserved grant. This grant allows our fireman to receive the newest technology in Personal Protective Equipment as well it allows our members to wash their Equipment after being exposed to hazardous environments.

I would personally like to thank current member (Retired Chief) from Columbia No.1 Fire Department Joesph Felus for his time and dedication on writing this grant for the Wrightsville Fire Department.
