You may have noticed some of our apparatus and members out and about through town doing some work with the fire hydrants. This is because with the help and support of the Wrightsville Water Authority, we were able to secure Storz steamer caps for every hydrant in our first due area that is supplied by the Wrightsville Water Company.

What does this mean for us?

Basically during a fire, we normally have to remove a cap, add an adapter to the hydrant, and the finally secure the hose to the adapter. With this new connection, we can quickly jump off of the engine, and connect the hose directly to a hydrant without carrying a bag of special adapters.

What does this do for you?

This is going to cut the time in half that it takes to be able to secure a water supply to our apparatus when fighting a fire, thus assists us in our jobs saving property and lives.
